Youth Competitive Swimming Program
Youth Competitive Swimming Program – All swimmers who complete the pre-competitive swimming program are eligible to register for the competitive swimming program. Additionally, swimmers with previous experience who have gained their skills elsewhere can also register if they meet the different program criterions.
The prime focus of this program is developing the swimming technique of the four swimming strokes to perfection. Each swimming training is devoted to the creation of superior swimming technique and will usually include the following components: swimming strategies
- stroke analysis
- starts and turns
- breathing and timing patterns
- body balance and alignment.
The program offers three levels. Passing from one level to another will require better and faster swimming. All competitive swimming trainings are supervised by Mr. Markov
Level 1 Children 8 to 10 years of age
- Participants will engage in 3 swimming practices per week and must demonstrate proficiency in all four swimming styles
- Ability to complete distances up to 200 meters in a timed setting.
- Will participate in all club-scheduled swimming competitions
- Individuals who display exceptional swimming talent will be introduced to various distances of the Front Crawl and will be incorporated into a long-term development plan spanning up to four years, and may have more swimming practices per week.
Level 2 10 – 12 years of age
- All four strokes in all events must be swum for time.
- Will have up to 5 weekly practices. Swimmers placed on a long-term plan may have more swimming practices.
- Reaching provincial swimming times will be essential for this level
- Will have at least one dry-land practice per week
- Will participate in all club-scheduled swimming competitions
- All competitive swimming trainings are supervised by Mr. Markov
Level 3 13 years of age and older.
- High performance level – will have up to 8 weekly practices
- Working toward reaching national swimming times and participation in international swimming competitions
- Participation in dry-land practices will be a must
- Swimmers must participate in all club-scheduled swimming competitions
- All competitive swimming trainings are supervised by Mr. Markov
The cost of the program will depend on the number of swimming practices per week and the swimming level. The cost of the program will be provided to the parent at the time of the try-out. Please book a try-out here
